From 23rd to 25th September, in the small Austrian town of Braunau am Inn, 20th Braunau Contemporary History Days will be held. The theme of this year’s manifestation is “Difficult Legacy”, as one of the participants, and the only speaker who survived Holocaust, will be Zagreb Jewish Film Festival honorary president, Mr. Branko Lustig.
Mr. Lustig will visit Adolf Hitler’s native house, where he will, on the last day of the program, on September 25th, deliver a speech entitled “From Osijek through Auschwitz to Hollywood”, in which he is going to talk about his personal experiences and testimonies from difficult war times, but also stress the importance of tolerance. Mr. Lustig has a great honor to close the whole manifestation as the last speaker.
On the same day, he will also visit the grave of remarkable humanitarian Emilie Schindler who, together with her husband Oscar, saved more than 1000 Jews during the WWII, and whose generous and humane gesture inspired the book Schindler’s Ark as well as movie Schindler’s List, whose producer was Mr. Lustig.
